TIME, TIME, TIME...
It's a verse off track 4, Tiny Cities, Mark Kozelek's cover of various Modest Mouse songs. Not bad, it's been in strong rotation as of late.
Been a busy, hectic week. Had an incredible dinner with a group of amazing friends on Thur. Became better friends with a Russian named Alex who is apparently a big shot action movie star in his homeland. I now have the perfect excuse to go visit Moscow...and watch Russian movies.
Huge success on Friday as I landed my first editorial ever. It sounds stupid to anyone reading this, but it's something we go nuts over in the PR world. A big deal when you're trying to sway opinion in favor of a client or particular issue.
Saw Low last night at Logan Square, great show. Amazing vocal harmonies between the husband/wife duo and just the perfect mix of gentle tunes I needed to ease my mind after a long, long week.
Looking forward to a weekend getaway to Nashville next weekend, haven't been back since 2002. Seeing a guilty pleasure of mine perform at 3rd and Lindsey.
Ah yes, a recent pleasant discovery of mine is Cabarnet-Merlot Yellow Tail wine. The "Blue" label if you will. I've always sided with the "Purple" label and continue to treat it with fair respect, but give Blue a try...it's just as good. It's like switching Johnny Walker labels...without having to pay $150. Cheers.

Thank You for Smoking...
In light of my recent involvement with the media relations portion of the Smoke-Free Chicago campaign, I feel pressed to tell you about an excellent book...it's called Thank You for Smoking. It was handed down to me by a fellow PR co-worker who felt compelled to provide me with a novel that truly demonstrates the ultimate essence of pressure in the PR world. I'm slightly obsessed with this book and became estatic last week when said co-worker mentioned to me that she saw a trailer for the soon to be released movie about said book. I hate using "said" to re-reference any aforementioned anything, but it's Sunday and I feel like crossing some boundaries.
Check this trailer out: http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_searchlight/thankyouforsmoking/
YES, I know it stats Adam Brody (also of the O.C.) but if he can pull off a performance comprable to his Ben McKenzie's in "Junebug" I'm all over it like a something over something...how's that for a lazy analogy?
Maybe I have some secret addiction to the O.C. and can only fulfill that desire via viewing these characters in a more "adult" role...I take that back, Hollywood is just getting smart on us and implanting these actors in any role possible to attract new viewers....ultimately to the O.C.
Enjoy. -Bott

Jaahuuunbuggger...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0418773/
Go rent Junebug...now. Link above for overview. Seriously, this is a recent discovery of mine. Recent as in I watched for the first time last night. Yes, the film features Benjamin McKenzie (of the O.C.) BUT there is also a cameo by none other than Will Oldham...that's right Bonnie Prince Billy makes an appearance right along a star of teen soap opera drama.
Regarless, the film is tremendous. I think I was equally pleased with the character development and overall raw plot as I was with the cinematography. Incredibly props to the location manager. This inidividual did a fine job of spending time in ruraly North Carolina and really capturing the essence of living in a quiet, peaceful southern neighborhood. The Director uses extensive holds on amazing landscape and scenic shots to grasp your attention and truly situate your mindset to that of an outsider who may or may not have ever visited the South.
Go...watch now...you won't be disappointed. Until next time, Happy Sunday.

To the tune of Not In Tune...
There are three individuals singing atrociously outside my place as we speak. I would like to think they are a joyous group, drunk off their asses, having a fun wintry night. The scary part is that it is a Wed. night, they are holding a hat out trying to collect change (as they have been for the past 2 hours) and their songs are a bit too practiced...as if they have most certainly done this before and are not out randomly trying to cause social awkwardness. As I left my house to trek over to the Happy Spot (only the best neighborhood grocer...the owner says the same thing everytime I come in and acts as if I don't provide 99% of her business with my daily $5 purchases) and returned, the group serenaded me with a wretched but somewhat flattering version of "Man walking down the street and returning to his apartment." It's a new tune but don't be surprised if it shows up on the next American Idol tryouts...it's just that good...take that Kelly Whatchamaharkson.

LAST NIGHT.
Last night marked the culmination of 6 long, theraputic months of putting together the 3Friends memorial and benefit show for Doug Meis, Michael Dahlquist and John Glick. The night was seamless and perfect in every sense of the word. In fact, words can't even express how amazing the night was. The energy and vibe was so upbeat...it was obvious that we had special guests in the room taking it all in right alongside everyone else. There are so many people that helped make it possible and it could not have been more perfect...thank you all.

Train adventures Part 1:
I was riding home on the train today when a perculiar man climbed aboard and sat down next to me. There happened to be a cute girl sitting next to me. The man immediately addressed the girl by asking, "How much does a polar bear weigh?" Confused, the girl glances at me before recognizing her social obligation to respond to this slightly smelly man by responding, "Umm, I don't know." The man quickly responded, "Enough to break the ice." She laughed. They talked. He mocked me by telling her that at least he had the guts to try to talk to her, unlike this fool (pointing at me). I smiled and acknowledged that yes...I am the fool....for smelling decent and not insisting on generating social awkwardness. Only second to the time I rode to work sitting next to a 30 year old woman who practiced church hymns on her recorder.
